A charity drive is aiming to send a cultural melody to the Christmas number one spot. The effort seeks to send support to communities in Gaza while also highlighting Palestinian culture and creativity.

A Chance for Solidarity and an "Surprise Victory"

Musician and artist Brian Eno, who features on the track, stated that the single 'Lullaby' represents a chance to show solidarity with Palestinians over the Christmas period. He remarked the potential for an unlikely festive coup.

“That would be amazing if that came to pass, yes,” he said. “I wouldn't be completely disheartened if it doesn’t, festive releases are a thing unto themselves.”

Defiant Message of Self-Determination

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who sings on the adaptation of a folk song called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the piece's powerful central theme.

“It has a profound significance for a lot of people,” Barghouti explained. “The essence is that I would rather die in dignity than live a life without freedom. That’s the main theme of the song; we desire to exist a life of dignity that we deserve as Palestinians.”

Track's Background and Star-Studded Lineup

The track was produced following a large-scale benefit event held in late summer. First conceived to be done as a live recording, the rendition was omitted from the lengthy event due to the event running long.

The impressive roster of musicians featured on Lullaby encompasses a group of well-known figures from the industry. All were part of the September show, which managed to collect a significant sum for charitable causes.

Production and Release

Lullaby was produced by a team of producers and composers. The single blends a fusion of the heritage language with contemporary English verses.

The organizers behind the project have stated that their aim is to collect the highest amount for a charitable pot. These donations will be allocated to Palestinian causes through an non-profit partner.

“There is no a fixed goal,” a spokesperson said. “We’ll go for the maximum achievable. Naturally, the more the merrier. All proceeds are directed out to the people of Gaza.”

The context in the territory was described as its profound destruction, with a overwhelming percentage of property described as in ruins or severely impacted.

“Against that backdrop, a couple of million is unlikely to make an enormous impact. But I think what does make a difference is primarily raising awareness for this issue and proving the human dimension of the story.”

The track is scheduled for release at the end of the week. Additionally, a complete film of the charity concert will be made ready to watch on a major video platform from later in the month.
