Slot Maintains He Is Secure and Has The Club's Support After PSV Loss

Arne Slot conceded that it was expected for questions to be asked about his future following a further heavy loss versus the Dutch champions.

The Reds suffered their ninth loss in 12 matches, marking the club's poorest streak after being demoted in the 1953-54 season.

They were taken apart by the Eredivisie champions on a punishing evening at Anfield.

“I'm confident, I'm fine, I have got a lot of backing from management,” the coach remarked.

“It would be great to change things and earn three points of course but if you are working as a coach and not doing well then it's typical that questions are asked.”

He continued, “I'm comfortable with my role. This isn't the initial instance I’ve been in a challenging situation but it's crucial that we turned it around.”

Discussions with Liverpool Hierarchy

Upon being questioned to provide details on his conversations with the team officials, the head coach explained:

“There's regular dialogue. They are helpful for the squad and for me and we have those conversations but they don't phone me every single minute each day to say they trust me.”

He mentioned, “Through standard discussions I sense the belief. But I've not talked to them since this match yet so it remains to be seen.”

Familiar Issues and Squad Response

The manager highlighted known failings from his Liverpool side in their Champions League defeat, namely missed opportunities and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, midfielder Curtis Jones was more forthright in his view of the club’s predicament.

“I haven't got the answers. Frankly, I don’t. I’m saying that to everybody,” Jones stated.

“It's simply not good enough. I don't have to wait to consider it. I'm beyond feeling anger inside. I’m at the point currently where I just don’t have the words.”

He went on, “It's difficult because I play for the club I love. I’m a fan, and I've watched this club for years.”

“In recent memory, I haven’t experienced a Reds side going through a spell of this nature with performances so bad.”

He concluded, “However we continue to wear the crest on our chest. And as long as that badge is taken away, we will always battle.”

“We’re going to try to get this team back to where it needs to be, demonstrate to all once more what Liverpool stands for and why it's known as the greatest side in the planet.”

“But right now, we're in trouble and we have to turn it around.”
