The United Kingdom Prepared to Use Frozen Russia's Assets to Support the Ukrainian Military Campaign

The United Kingdom is ready to advance with using the full worth of frozen Russia's funds to support the Ukrainian military campaign, Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer has stated.

In a shared declaration, the officials of the UK, the French Republic, and the Federal Republic of Germany emphasized that this unified step would increase strain on Moscow's head Vladimir Putin and urge Russia to come to the table.

They clarified that the decision would be carried out in tight collaboration with the America.

UK penalties have blocked over £25bn of Russian resources since the Russian government launched its comprehensive attack against the Ukrainian nation in 2022. However, previously, funds provided to the Ukrainian government using Russia's funds had only been drawn from profits and interest accrued on them.

Sir Keir assured Ukraine's leader Volodymyr Zelensky that the United Kingdom, the French Republic, and Germany were united in their aim to advance efforts toward utilizing the complete amount of the frozen Russia's state assets to halt hostilities.

He noted that further sanctions soon would apply more pressure on Moscow.

This declaration is subsequent to European representatives met in the Danish capital previously to discuss utilizing frozen Russia's holdings for a €140bn loan to the Ukrainian nation.

Last month, US President Donald Trump urged international partners to seize or utilize immobilized Russia's assets, as reported by news outlets.

The value of frozen Russian assets in the Europe is estimated to be approximately €211bn.

Leader Zelensky calls on UK's Sir Keir Starmer to join the weapons procurement initiative

The Russian government carried out extensive bombardments throughout the Ukrainian territory on Friday, leading to blackouts in significant regions of Ukraine's capital, the city, and eight other regions.

Two people were lost their lives and a minimum of 20 people were wounded in the assault, Ukrainian officials stated.

In a post on social media subsequent to the incident, Zelensky commented that the strategic strike aimed at civilian and energy infrastructure.

"The necessity is not mere statements but decisive action - from the America, EU, and the G7 - in delivering anti-aircraft weapons and implementing sanctions," he stated.

"All penalty impositions undermines the Russian war effort," Zelensky declared, in a separate post.

Also on Friday, Zelensky informed the press he would encourage Sir Keir to enter the weapons procurement program, under which partner nations buy arms from the United States to provide to Ukraine.

While applauding the Britain's consistent assistance for the Ukrainian government, he remarked it should send a clear signal that it would take part in the program, as well as enforce further sanctions on the Russian Federation.
