Trump Calls Families of Attacked National Guard Members to the Presidential Residence

Former President Trump stated on Sunday that he has asked the relatives of a Guard member fatally shot last week to visit the White House.

He added that he spoke to her family and they were “deeply grieving”.

Background on the Heartbreaking Event

Soldier Beckstrom, 20, was killed in a attack on Wednesday in DC.

Her fellow service member, Andrew Wolfe, 24, continues receiving treatment in critical condition.

Memorials across West Virginia have occurred in their memory.

Presidential Invitation

The president stated he’s proposed a visit to the White House for the loved ones of both members of the West Virginia National Guard.

“I told them: ‘When you’re ready, because that’s a hard experience, arrive at the White House. We’re going to recognize her,” Trump informed reporters. “And likewise with him, whether he recovers or not.”

Public Response

Mourners gathered over the past few days at the high school in the state to remember Beckstrom.

Both she and Wolfe had been serving with the military unit as part of the president’s government program to assist policing efforts in DC.

Remembering Sarah Beckstrom

“Sarah was the type of pupil that educators wished for. She carried herself with calm resilience, a warm expression and a optimistic attitude that encouraged those around her,” Jarrod Hankins, the head of Beckstrom’s alma mater, informed the media. “She was sweet, considerate and always eager to assist people.”

Funeral details for Sarah are still being arranged.

Legal Actions and Policy Revisions

Officials have accused a twenty-nine-year-old Afghan national with one count of murder and charges of assault with intent to kill while armed.

The incident prompted the Trump administration to suspend asylum processing and cease issuing entry permits to owners of Afghan passports.

Status of Wolfe

Andrew Wolfe, a native of the city, started his military career in early 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman high school, per the AP.

He continues to receive treatment and is “fighting for his life”, West Virginia leader Patrick Morrisey stated on television.

Attorney general Pam Bondi informed a news show that she also intended to meet with his relatives.

Legacy of Beckstrom

Sarah, from Summersville, graduated from Webster County high school in June 2023 and joined the military shortly after, working as a MP with excellence, per the West Virginia National Guard.

“She had a lot of kindness and she absolutely had courage,” the governor informed the crowd at the service. “Though her time was cut short, she has left a mark that’s going to endure.”
